To Mommy and Daddy

From your little one

I thought that I was dying but now it’s plain to see

I’m quite alive in Heaven, just as happy as can be

There are angels all around me singing songs of victory

And Jesus comes to visit here in Heaven’s nursery

God formed me in your belly and breathed into me a soul

Even though you couldn’t see me, I was real, alive and whole!

He took a piece from Mom and Dad and with them fashioned me

The story is a wondrous one of how I came to be!

“Where’s my Mommy and my Daddy? God I really need to know”

Jesus told me how you loved me and were sad to see me go

He told me how you longed to hold me in your arms someday

And watch me grow up straight and tall and see me run and play

“Why God did you not leave me, but instead took me away?”

“I had a special reason which you’ll understand some day”

“But my Mommy and my Daddy – they must be so very sad”

“Fear not, My precious little one; in time they will be glad!”

“For although they didn’t know you, they already called your name

And though your time on earth was brief, they’ll never be the same

And there will come a time when they will join you here above

They’ll smile and laugh together with the little one they love!”

“Mommy, Daddy, I want you to know I love you very much

How I would have liked to see your face and feel your tender touch

But now I know God joined you – as a husband and a wife

And used your love so wonderfully – through you He gave me life!”
