Another month has passed and we’re still here, doing the best we can to hang on. Thank you for continuing to hold us up before the Lord. Cora’s pain has continued to get worse. She is taking morphine but is trying to balance out pain relief with constipation difficulties. Pray that she will know what to do in this situation. There seems to be no right answers for her right now – we really need the Lord’s wisdom and help.

After my letter last month I had a few people express concern over our continuing to believe for Cora’s healing. I really appreciate everyone’s concern and feel it is healthy to discuss where we’re at right now. Let me explain more fully where we believe we are at and how we would like you to pray for us where you will be comfortable.

First, we are going for healing rather than death because we believe that is God’s revealed will for this situation. Believing this way is not how we started – God did some pretty definite things in the late 1980s and early 1990s that changed our direction. Cora was the first to know that God wanted to heal her but, try as she might, she could not convince the kids or me. Somehow when she finally gave up the Lord made it known to me first and then David and Jenny. Over the years we have had many confirmations of this being His will, often from people that knew nothing about us or what we believed. So we have tried to put our entire faith in what we believe God has said to us and act according to the Message Bible’s paraphrase of James 1:6-8. "Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who ‘worry their prayers’ are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.”

As for prayer for us, we are very comfortable with asking you to pray as Jesus taught in the Lord’s prayer – for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done. We don’t want to hold onto our lives or our own ideas. We truly want what the Lord wants for us and for His Body. And as you pray, please ask the Lord to deal with us in mercy and give us grace to help us in our time of need according the Hebrews 4:16. We often find ourselves scared, confused, feeling hopeless and needing His special help.

Thanks again for your faithful prayers that have kept us going and encouraged us. As far as we know the apartments have not yet been sold, but Wycliffe is trying to be sure that the new owners will allow some of the Wycliffe people to remain here. Please continue to pray for this as well. May the Lord bless you and fill you with His Spirit. We love you.
